NIAID Commemorates HIV Vaccine Awareness Day
May 18, 2010
The past year has produced significant progress in HIV vaccine research -- a major clinical trial that produced the first evidence that a vaccine can protect some people against HIV infection and the discovery of new antibodies capable of neutralizing different strains of the virus.
National HIV Vaccine Awareness Day marks an opportunity to reflect on our progress, renew our commitment to finding an HIV vaccine, and personally thank the scientists, community educators, health care workers, and especially the many study volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy to this important endeavor.
