INTO WATER SPORTS?

usa_gov_logo_nyreblog_com_.gifWater sports are described by the recreation standard as water skiing, surfing, scuba diving, visiting a beach , swimming  in an outdoor pool, and/or swimming in lakes and rivers. Some recreation sites offer on-site vendors who will rent equipment, including snorkeling gear, boats, canoes and kayaks. Some sites may even offer tour packages through concessionaires. Amenities, licensing, fees, and seasonal restrictions vary from site to site. For information on a particular water sport, please contact that site directly.

The  U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) WaterAlert service sends daily or hourly updates about current conditions in rivers, lakes and groundwater that exceed user-definable thresholds. This service allows kayakers, rafters and boaters to better understand when conditions are optimal and safe for recreational activities.
