Yesterday afternoon I kicked off my re-election campaign to continue representing New York's 24th Congressional District in Congress among a crowd of nearly 200 family members, friends and supporters.
During the past year, Congress has dealt with some of the most important issues facing America in generations. We've had to implement sweeping changes to shore up our economy, we are fighting two wars and we've been charged with fixing a broken health care system. At the same time, Congress hasn't seen such division in ideologies since the Civil War.
Since I was first elected to Congress in 2006 my office has worked tirelessly to build on the assets we have, and not lament on what we don't. We didn't create this economic environment, but I have taken concrete steps to do something about it.
Today I outlined our record of accomplishments highlighted by success stories and legislative victories that have allowed us to help manufacturers, famers, educators and communities across our region.
I defined my vision to return the Mohawk Valley and Central New York to growth and prosperity once again. Generations ago we built great things here. We did great things.
I ask you to join me as I announce my candidacy to continue serving in Congress and to continue our fight to make the home of our parents fit to be the home of our children.
