Voters first rejected party-switcher Arlen Specter two weeks ago. Then, last night America once again stood up and with a clear voice, said no more to politics as usual. As The Washington Post put it, voters rejected "politicians acting like, well, politicians".
Here in Florida, we don't have to wait until election day to stand together against this politics-as-usual approach. We can send a message today. In order to take our country back we must put an end to self-serving politicians who put polls over principles. We must let Washington know that we only stand behind conservative leaders who have the courage to stand by their convictions. Last week, in a blatant attempt to pander to the liberal left, Charlie Crist reversed his position on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." This was just three days after he told reporters he supported it.
Today, (his tenth flip-flop in just the last month) Charlie Crist put petty politics ahead of his own principles by vetoing one of his own budget requests. This looks just like political retribution against legislators who no longer support his bid for the U.S. Senate.
One thing is clear - we cannot trust Charlie to tell us where he stands, to stand by his word, or even to stand in the same place from one day to the next.
