MEET THE CHALLENGE: FOUR FREEDOMS PARK

WE HAVE A CHALLENGE GRANT AND THE DEADLINE IS JUNE 30.

Dear Friends,

franklin_d_roosevelt_headshot_nyreblog_com_.jpgFor several years I've shared with you invitations to events in NY for excellent Democratic candidates from around the country. Today I want to introduce you to a project which honors perhaps the greatest president of the 20th Century, Franklin D. Roosevelt. On March 29, 2010, we broke ground for the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island in the East River, only 36 years after Governor Rockefeller and Mayor Lindsay renamed the island for President Roosevelt and dedicated 4 acres at the southern tip to a park in his honor. American architect Louis I. Kahn designed the park, his last project and the only design of his which can still be built.

The Four Freedoms Park commemorates the profound contributions made by President Roosevelt when he committed this country to work for a world in which all people would enjoy the Four Freedoms; Freedom of Speech and Expression, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want and Freedom from Fear.

I invite you to help us meet the fundraising goal. To all who have already generously supported the Park, we thank you. If you would like to do more or to participate in this historic venture for the first time, please visit the website, www.fdrfourfreedomspark.org , and join us. There is no contribution too large or too small! With your help we will complete this extraordinary memorial to President Roosevelt and deliver a beautiful public park in the heart of New York City to New Yorkers and to citizens of the world. Let's build it now and rebuild something in us all.

All the best,

Sally
