Downtown Alliance Will Honor the 2009 Yankees With a Sidewalk Marker in the Canyon of Heroes 
WHAT: New York Yankees Manager Joe Girardi will join Elizabeth H. Berger, President of the Alliance for Downtown New York, to unveil a black granite strip commemorating last fall's ticker-tape parade for the 2009 World Series champions. Surrounding them will be a dozen members of the Downtown Little League Yankees.
The Downtown Alliance--manager of the Business Improvement District for Lower Manhattan--has embedded a sidewalk strip in the Canyon of Heroes for each of the 204 ticker-tape parades that have proceeded from Battery Park up Broadway to City Hall in the last 124 years.
