After a week of polls showing our race as too close to call, yesterday we finished tallying up our contributions -- and found that we now have more than $11 million in our media fund!
But in a state our size, with millions of voters to reach, that means we only have enough in the bank to run three TV ads statewide this fall. Just three ads. It's crazy, but we can't control the too-high cost of television, radio, and online advertising.
Carly Fiorina reported already spending much of what she raised, with only $953,000 left in the bank. That's a clear sign that she's planning to use her personal wealth to fund her November campaign, just like she did in the primary. We need to be ready.
Contribute $5 now so we can match Carly Fiorina's private millions with grassroots strength!
We expect Carly Fiorina will write her campaign another big check to supplement whatever she raises -- and she has the ability to do that. Official disclosure reports put her personal assets in the $30 - $110 million range, including the $21 million golden parachute that she got from HP.
In ten minutes, with her personal checkbook, Fiorina could match us dollar for dollar -- and more.
And with the next campaign report not going public until October 15, we may not know until her negative ads hit the airwaves.
We need to continue to build our media fund, to make sure we have the resources to talk to millions of California voters and to match Carly Fiorina's golden parachute dollars every day through November 2.
Contribute $5 to Barbara's campaign right now so we can fight back against the negative ads to come!
Of course, Carly Fiorina's going to try to distract voters from looking at her record and her vision for the future. Consider the facts:
- Fiorina was fired as CEO of Hewlett Packard after laying off 30,000 workers, sending jobs overseas, and taking huge bonuses and perks for herself.
- After being fired, Fiorina was named one of Portfolio's "20 Worst American CEOs of All Time."
- Fiorina has boasted about receiving Sarah Palin's endorsement and sharing her conservative agenda.
- Even in these tough times, Fiorina opposes extending unemployment benefits.
- Fiorina describes herself as a "proud, pro-life conservative" and wants to deny women the right to choose.
- Fiorina touts her 100% rating from the NRA, and supports letting even people on the no-fly list buy guns.
We need to make sure that voters know what a clear choice there is in this election.
Contribute $5 to Barbara's campaign right now so we can let voters know about the clear choice in this race!
By taking advantage of campaign finance law, Carly Fiorina is doing just what we expected -- hiding her personal contributions until the last minute. In the primary, she waited until the last three weeks to put in the decisive millions that won it for her. She's probably following the same game plan for November.
You've seen the polls, and you know what's at stake. We can win this race, but we have to stand together.
Contribute to Barbara's campaign now.
Thanks again for your help so far and I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail.
