YOU BE THE JUDGE

aba_logo_nyreblog_com_.gifDear Colleagues:

The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law has the honor of hosting the ABA Law Student Division Region 2 Client Counseling Competition on Sunday, February 14, 2010. We expect 12 teams from law schools located in Connecticut and New York to compete in this regional competition. This year's general topic is White Collar Crime, though the problems generally involve a broad range of legal topics.

We are looking for attorneys, judges, and counselors to judge the competition. The competition is structured so that panels of judges observe teams of two law students counseling a client and conducting a short post-consultation session regarding the consultation and the client's problem. The judges rank the student teams that they observe and also give the students constructive feedback after the simulated sessions. As the competition gets a little closer, we will send you additional information and instructions.

We will need competition judges for preliminary rounds of the competition on Sunday (2/14) from 9am to 12:30pm, and for the semifinal rounds on Sunday from 1:30pm to 4pm. We are able to provide CLE credit for attorneys who judge the competition. Breakfast and lunch will be served at the competition.

If you are interested and available to judge the Region 2 Competition, please let me know as soon as you can. You may call me at 973-668-8332, or e-mail me at pzivari@verizon.net attaching a copy of your resume. We will get back to you by January 27th to confirm your participation.

Your time is greatly appreciated. We could not run a successful competition without your help.

Sincerely,
Pamela Zivari
