After he was convicted on ten counts of tax evasion, and sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison, the Departmental Disciplinary Committee for the First Judicial Department asked the Appellate Division, First Department, to suspend Raymond Ruble from the practice of law.
The AD1 was of the view Ruble's conduct comprised "serious crimes" which warranted his immediate suspension, even though he was appealing his conviction. ("If respondent's appeal is successful, any disciplinary sanction may be revoked (Judiciary Law ยง 90 [5] [a].")
That Ruble got himself into a big pile.
