Dear Lucas,On Wednesday, January 6th, I will be sworn in as the City Council Member for the 5th District. Shortly after noon, the Council will convene for the first time in the new legislative session, and the City Clerk will administer the oath of office to all 51 Council Members.Four years ago, I held an inaugural ceremony and reception at The 92nd Street Y after being sworn in at City Hall. It was the event of a lifetime - a moving afternoon that I will never forget.But in light of these tough economic times, I have decided not to host a similar celebration this year. Instead, I am inviting you to join me at the people's house, City Hall, to share this humbling and exciting day with me. Doors will open to the Council Chambers at 11AM and seating will be on a first come first served basis.In addition to taking the oath of office, we will also be voting to re-elect Christine Quinn as Speaker of the Council.
