TAKING INVENTORY

j0400427.jpgAfter the Morgan County Court convicted Orlando Rivera of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, he argued that police had illegally searched his car and that, during the trial, the Judge should have suppressed the introduction of the drugs found.

On appeal, the Appellate Division, Fourth Division, thought officers had followed the correct procedure when they examined the vehicle's contents. And, since a "meaningful inventory list" had been prepared, the AD4 could discern no irregularity and allowed the conviction to stand.

Rivera certainly took stock of that.
