NYWBA MISSES YOU, AND NEEDS YOU

nywba_womens_bar_banner_nyreblog_com_.gifAs a past President of the New York Women's Bar Association, I am writing to ask you to please renew your NYWBA membership for 2009-2010 - our 75th anniversary year! Renewing is easy - just go to www.nywba.org/membership to access our secure online membership form.

I am making this personal appeal now, both because we miss you, and because we need only 14 additional members by January 31 to secure 10 seats on the Board of Directors of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York for next year. In light of the many crucial issues pending before the Legislature, the Governor, in the Courts, and in society, it is critical that we have the strongest voice possible as the Women's Bar establishes policy and determines our legislative and regulatory agenda.

I am also hoping that you will renew because, in these tough economic times, we need a strong Association where we can network, mentor each other, and help support our development professionally and personally, and thus make each of our futures more secure.

The NYWBA has many exciting events planned for the next several months, including CLE programs on a wide variety of topics (including Mediation and ADR in the Courts, Ethics, Appellate Practice and other substantive issues); pro bono opportunities to support people affected by the Haiti earthquake, along with other interesting and important programs. We have also have openings for members on our 37 Committees.

Planning is underway for our gala 75th Anniversary Awards and Installation Dinner, which will be held on June 10, 2010. Among other honorees, we will be celebrating the accomplishments of the Honorable Sherry Klein Heitler, who has served on the NYWBA Board of Directors for many years and was recently appointed Administrative Judge for Civil Matters in the First Judicial Department.

I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming programs and to greeting you as a fellow member. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information about the Association or your membership status.

With warm regards and thanks,

Beth
