Statement from Governor David A. Paterson
Yesterday, Governor David A. Paterson today announced that James F. Gill, Chairman of the Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority, has resigned his position.
The Governor issued the following statement:
"Throughout his life, Jim Gill has demonstrated an exceptional sense of public service. From his time with the United States Marine Corps to his work on the Joint Commission of Integrity in the Public Schools, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and his dedication to Fordham Law School, Jim has exhibited an extraordinary commitment to his community. This same commitment has guided his nearly 14-year post as Chairman of the Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority (BCPA) during which time the BCPA has experienced enormous growth.
"With his dedication to New York City and the people who live, work and visit, James has guided the development and maintenance of a cherished public space. It has been a privilege to work with Jim. I am pleased that he will continue to serve on the board of the Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation and I wish him well in his future endeavors."
