Dear Lucas,
2011 is right around the corner, and that means one thing: time to hit the ground running. We've got a lot of work before us, and you can bet we're gearing up for the challenges ahead: we have six pro-choice Democratic women in the Senate coming up for re-election in 2012; we're digging deep to find every opportunity to make gains in the House; and, critically, we're investing in our ever-growing EMILY's List community -- because we depend on you for everything we do.
I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you -- you are why we were able to fill 100 seats in the House and Senate with pro-choice Democratic women in our history. You are why we were able to re-elect all of our pro-choice Democratic women senators this last cycle. You are why we were able to elect five new women of color to the House. In a cycle as tough as they come, you came through -- and I'm asking for your continued support so we have the building blocks for future success.
I don't have to tell you: the stakes are high, and we'll need every resource possible.
- The progressive community depends on the renowned EMILY's List training program to help pro-choice Democratic women build winning campaigns.
- Our political team is ready to recruit exciting up-and-comers and take advantage of emerging opportunities.
- We're not letting our guard down for one moment with the radical new GOP Congress -- we will be relentless watchdogs of Boehner and his cronies as they try to roll back our rights and turn back our progress.
- Women voters are critical to Democratic victories -- we are focusing on research to give us insight into how to mobilize this essential voting bloc to the polls to elect more Democrats.
We have our work cut out for us, but with the help of the EMILY's List community, I know we can accomplish all of this and more. Your support made all the difference this last year -- and I know you'll be a part of the important initiatives we have planned for 2011.
I want to thank you so much for being a part of our community. I wish you and your family the happiest of holidays.
Take care,
Stephanie Schriock
