Dear Friend,
Earlier this month, we told you about Target's foray into post-Citizens United corporate spending in elections. Target was one of 13 companies that gave over $1 million to an independent expenditure committee. Now that organization can spend those same company dollars in the upcoming election, and they've already used some of that money to back a political candidate who opposes same-sex marriage and has stood behind Arizona's new immigration laws.
Target's actions were immediately called out , but they did not act alone. Best Buy was in lockstep with them.
Groups are now calling for boycotts at Best Buy, and Best Buy shareholders are demanding that the company reconsider its policies on political spending .
Use our corporate spending tracker and tell Best Buy to stop spending treasury dollars in our elections, especially when they can be used to oppose fundamental equality issues.
We have 68 days until Election Day. Take action to tell companies like Best Buy that spending company money in elections is an outrage. Email Best Buy today.
Sincerely,
Matthew Wing
