Hi Lucas.

Last year, our organization (HANDS ON NEW YORK, INC.) put together the 2009 Back-to-School Kids Celebration, where we distribute free school supplies to hundreds of needy, low-income children, most of whom lived in local shelters and foster homes. We were fortunate to have had the support of Dominican artist Hector Acosta "El Torito" who donated the funds for the event.
The event was a huge success and we were featured in Univision's Primer Impacto and NBC 4 also. Rarely do we see NBC 4 or Primer Impacto coming to cover a Latino-themed event put together by a non-profit.
Unfortunately, with less than two weeks before the first day of school, we find ourselves in the difficult situation that we do not have the necessary funds to even help 50 needy kids with free school supplies. El Torito's schedule does not permit him to be in the area.
This is why I am forced to make this personal appeal to all my friends, to PLEASE consider making this event possible for the hundreds of kids that REALLY NEED A HELPING HAND. For every $100 you donate, we will be able to help 15-20 kids with a bag filled with school supplies. So PLEASE, DONATE WHAT YOU CAN TODAY !
Spread the word and forward this to your contacts asking and encouraging them to support this cause...for the kids who need our help the most.
Thank you in advance and may God continue to Bless You with health, success and peace.
