Dear Lucas,
Richard Hanna has stooped to a new low.
We know that he has no ideas for how to make things better in Upstate New York, and we expect him to regularly stretch the truth, but last Wednesday Richard Hanna attempted to fool the public and the press with an outright lie.
Hanna accused Congressman Arcuri of accepting campaign contributions from a recently indicted lobbyist. But here's the thing: we never accepted any donations from that lobbyist, his family, his employees or his firm.
Right now, the Hanna Lie Machine is spreading these false accusations with press releases, but we know it's only a matter of time before he starts running television ads with all kinds of lies - just like he did in 2008.
Will you contribute $25, $40, $100 or even $250 by midnight today so that we can combat Richard Hanna's lies?
We quickly went to work to set the record straight and as reporters began researching the alleged donations, they confirmed that Hanna lied.
Friday's Utica O-D story about Hanna's lie was titled "Did indicted lobbyist give funds to Arcuri? Well, no." [Utica Observer Dispatch, 8/13/10]
"Latest Hanna charge not true," wrote the Finger Lakes Times. [Finger Lakes Times, 8/15/10]
And ultimately, in yesterday's Syracuse Post Standard, Hanna's camp finally admitted that they "had made an error." [Syracuse Post Standard, 8/15/10]
We were successful in beating back the Hanna Lie Machine this time, but we know now that he will stop at nothing.
Will you contribute $25, $40, $100 or even $250 by midnight today so that we can combat Richard Hanna's lies?
Thanks for all you are doing to help us build an honest, winning campaign.
Best,
Carolyn Ehrlich
