Public awareness and support represent one of SAMHSA's priority initiatives. The goal of this initiative is to increase understanding of mental and substance use disorder prevention and treatment services. The hope is to achieve the full potential of prevention and to help people recognize and seek assistance for these health conditions with the same urgency as they would for any other health condition.
