The Lenox Hill Democratic Club will be holding its annual cocktail reception on Thursday May 13, 2010 at The National Arts Club at 15 Gramercy Park South, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
We are especially pleased to announce that the club will be honoring New York City Council Member Jessica Lappin. Lappin was first elected to the City Council in November 2005 and represents the 5th District of Manhattan, which includes the Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island. Praised by the New York Times for her "steely resolve, dedication and energy," Lappin is recognized as a strong advocate for education reform, affordable housing, and equal rights for all New Yorkers. Lappin was re-elected in November 2009, a tough year for incumbents, by a 49 point margin over her Republican opponent. In January 2010, Council Member Lappin was elected by her colleagues to Chair the Aging Committee, where she leads the Council's efforts to promote an age-friendly New York. In addition, Council Member Lappin is a member of the Education, Transportation, Cultural Affairs, and Land Use committees.
Your contribution will enable us to continue to support and promote the interests of Democrats in New York, especially those living in the 65th Assembly District.
