WORN OUT WELCOME

j0386497.jpgThe New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) opted to evict Gladys Maldonado from her public housing unit because she was allegedly arrested for selling prescription drugs in the vicinity of the housing development, left her "profoundly disabled" daughter alone in the building's common areas for extended periods of time, and, even threatened to have her arresting officer assassinated.

When she filed an administrate proceeding -- pursuant to CPLR Article 78 -- challenging NYCHA's efforts to have her removed from her residence, the New York County Supreme Court transferred the case to the Appellate Division, First Department, which confirmed the termination of Maldonado's tenancy.

The AD1 didn't think her eviction shocked its "sense of fairness," particularly since her drug arrest occurred while a hearing, based on her "nondesirability and breach of rules and regulations," was already in progress.

Surely, an undesirable outcome for Maldonado.
