Dear S.I.D.A.:
I hope this letter finds you all well. I still follow your activities and efforts on Staten Island and in New York City. I commend the Club and its members for your continued efforts to support progressive policies and candidates. I congratulate the Club on its 48th Anniversary and wish you continued success in the future.
I also want to thank you for your past support of my efforts in Maryland. Anita, Rachel, Maya and I are doing well and recently moved into a new home. And I am seeking re-election as the 3rd District Bowie City Councilmember on November 3rd.
I appreciate and respect the trust that the residents have placed in me to represent their interests and concerns as I have served the City of Bowie since November 2005. In November 2007 I was selected by my colleagues to serve as Mayor Pro Tem, the first African-American to hold the position in the City's history. I believe I have served the City well and offer myself again as a candidate to the citizens of the 3rd Council District for an additional 2-year term.
That is why I am calling upon you again as a friend to help me in my candidacy for re-election to the Bowie City Council by providing your financial support. Your past support, guidance and assistance was instrumental in assisting me to get to this point in my professional and political career. I only hope that our relationship transcends the physical distance between us now and is based on our shared ideals, visions and works.
