Dear Friends,
My dream to become New York City's Public Advocate was not realized. Although you and so many other New Yorkers enthusiastically supported me and financially contributed to the campaign, the majority of voters made a more traditional choice. I greatly appreciate your participation and involvement in my effort.
With your support, I was able to discuss important issues in the campaign ranging from the mayor and city council's extension of term limits without our approval, to the NYPD's current practice of stop and frisk/racial profiling to the abuse of eminent domain in West Harlem, Atlantic yards and Willets Point. I shall continue to raise these and other issues in other contexts in the future.
Campaigns are important and worthwhile endeavors, even if they are not ultimately successful. Of course, I very much wanted to win but it did not happen. So now, I and you and so many others will continue to fight the good fight to right the wrongs, protect all New Yorkers civil rights and liberties and hold New York City government and its officials accountable to the people. We can do it. We will do it.
Thank you so much for your support of my campaign for Public Advocate. Keep in touch. We have many more challenges and fights ahead before we realize the goal of Freedom, Justice and Equality for all. Take care,
Love,
Norman
