On Thursday, September 24, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, the literary community and the family and friends of Ken Siegelman will come together to celebrate the late Brooklyn poet laureate's life with a special Brooklyn Poetry Outreach open mic at the Park Slope Barnes & Noble. Siegelman, who passed away at his Gravesend home in June, founded Brooklyn Poetry Outreach and hosted regular poetry nights at the book store. Guests will have the opportunity to sign up for the open mic and feature their own works. The event will also feature a video tribute to Siegelman and the presentation of a posthumous proclamation by BP Markowitz.
