NO DUCKING THIS!

usa_gov_logo_nyreblog_com_.gifIs there a national hunting and fishing license?

Hunting and fishing licenses and regulations come under the jurisdiction of individual states. Everyone age 16 and older who wishes to hunt or fish must obtain a hunting or fishing license. Individuals under age 16 may need a junior hunting license to hunt. Check with your state fish and wildlife agency for your state's particular requirements.

Many state fish and wildlife websites offer the option to apply online. Licenses are also usually sold at establishments that carry hunting and fishing equipment and supplies. Consult your local phone book for the telephone numbers of such stores in your area.

If the option to apply online is not available or if you are unable to locate a store that sells licenses in your area, your state fish and wildlife agency may be able to help.

In addition, specialty licenses such as Lifetime, Senior, Discounted and Disabled licenses may be available for those who qualify. These specialty licenses can only be purchased in person from the state fish and wildlife agencies.

Please note: There is no such thing as a national hunting or fishing license that is valid nationwide; each state issues its own licenses.

If you want to hunt waterfowl such as ducks, geese and swans, you will need a Federal Duck Stamp in addition to a state hunting license.
