Dear Lucas, Just because my campaign didn't make the runoff doesn't mean New York doesn't have to elect its next Comptroller. It remains a crucial position at a critical time for the city, and we must make sure it is in the right hands. That's why, today, I'm endorsing our friend David Yassky.
Though he was one of my rivals, I have an incredible amount of respect for the way he has run his campaign. He was upstanding and focused on the issues at all times. He was evenhanded when talking about the important decisions we face in getting New York back on sound financial footing. And above all else, he was a gentleman.
I have strongly encouraged my supporters to join me in heading back to the polls on September 29 and pulling the lever for David Yassky. We can count on him to bring honesty and integrity to the Office of Comptroller and to be a trustworthy custodian of the City's books. We can count on him to turn over every stone when it comes to shedding light on the waste and inefficiency throughout government. And we can count on him to make smart investments with our pension dollars that catalyze job growth in key industries.
Over the next 11 days, I ask you in joining me in doing absolutely everything we can to elect David Yassky our next New York City Comptroller. That includes making a contribution here so that David has the resources to take his vision of City government that is honest, accountable, and forward-thinking to every voter in every community in all five boroughs.
Thank you for continuing to support David. I know that together we can help him finish the job.
Sincerely,
Melinda
