The Justice Action Center, the Safe Passage Project, and the Immigration Law Students Association invite you to an evening devoted to helping students and attorneys learn about representing refugees in immigration proceedings.

Featured Speakers:

James O'Malley - NYLS alumnus and attorney for Deogratias "Deo" Niyizonkiza, a refugee from Burundi who survived genocide. Deo's amazing story is the inspiration for a bestselling book by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Tracy Kidder.  The book is entitled Strength in What Remains.

Lori Adams - NYLS alumna and attorney for Human Rights First, will speak about her work with attorneys representing refugees.

Moderated by: Claudia Slovinsky, Adjunct Professor and New York immigration lawyer.

This event is open to all current students and to attorneys interested in learning about how to get involved in representing applicants for asylum.
