Here's the text of an e-mail we received from the National Institute for Latino Policy :
Dear Lucas
As you know, from time to time, we ask our supporters to make a financial donation to support the work of the National Institute for Latino Policy (NiLP). Well, this is one of those times and we sure need you to make a tax-deductible donation to help us pay the bills. We think we provide a unique service to the Latino community, but without your concrete financial support it would not be possible for us to do so and remain an indpendent voice.
We have been working hard to meet the many formidable challenges facing the Latino community in this historic year. Among them are:
* Making sure that the Latino community is seriously taken into account by the new Obama Administration in
* Making sure that the media fairly and accuracy portrays the realities of the Latino community, whether it is PBS, MTV or the networks
* Making sure that Latino advocates are provided with the most accurate and up-to-date data and policy development available to help them address these new challenges
NiLP is working to make sure that our ability to provide critical information via the Internet and in other ways is enhanced and to develop our capacity to provide strategic policy analyses. We are also planning to host more public forums and events to generate important discussions on the nature of and solutions to the critical issues facing the Latino community.
But we need your help. We urge you to make a tax-deductible donation of $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or whatever you can afford.
You can do so in one of two ways.
By credit card, online, by clicking here .
Or, you can send a check or money order made out to the "National Institute for Latino Policy" to the following address:
National Institute for Latino Policy
101 Avenue of the Americas, Suite 313
New York, NY 10013
Att: Angelo Falcon
You can leverage your donation if your company has a matching gifts program. You can check with your employer's human resources department to see if they have such a program, which will enable you to have your company match your contribution. One person was able to convert her $1,000 contribution into a $4,000 donation in this way.
I know you receive many appeals for contributions all year long. What is different with the Institute is that your donation will definitely have a significant impact on our development as a Latino institution and our ability to fight the good fight for our people. The Institute is counting on your support. Hey, if you don't, who will?
Un Abrazo,
President and Founder |
