The Theater District in New York City is an intricate web of numerous individual, but interdependent, small and mid-sized businesses ranging from theaters, restaurants, shops, performance venues, bars and hotels that support each other and work to create the most vibrant live performance venue in the world, Broadway. It also generates literally billions of dollars every year and puts New York City on the map as a tourist destination and as the world leader in theater.
The recent financial meltdown has significantly impacted all of New York City , small business being dramatically effected by this.
In the spirit of community based organizing and problem solving, Yetta Kurland, a candidate for City Council in the 3rd District has put together a panel discussion of artists, small arts business owners and small business owners in the theater district who are impacted by the arts and entertainment industry along with community members and other community leaders to discuss where we are and what we need to do to make sure arts in this City is protected and survives the current economic downturn.
Come listen and add to the discussion in an effort to come up with a solution to help ensure small businesses and the arts in our community survive this difficult time.
