A BOXER LUNCH

barbara_boxer_official_photo_nyreblog_com_.jpg U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer will be in town on Thursday, May 28, 2009, attending a bunch of fundraisers for her 2010 campaign.

Apparently, Boxer is concerned about a possible challenge by Carly Fiorina (former CEO of Hewlett-Packard).

Here's the text of an e-mail which accompanied the event invite:

Senator Barbara Boxer--the tenacious and determined voice: to protect the environment; provide services for veterans and their families and funding for disaster relief; to shore up our crumbling infrastructure; provide resources to educate and protect our children; and to always protect a woman's right to choose,  and so much more--is up for re-election to the U.S. Senate

All indications are that Carly Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett Packard and McCain surrogate, will challenge Sen. Boxer in 2010.  After reportedly earning $180 million during her years at HP, Fiorina can easily fund a campaign out of her personal wealth.  More than ever, Barbara Boxer must be prepared for a highly competitive race; with 38 million people and 13 media markets, California is home to the most expensive campaigns in the country.

Senator Boxer is one of the strongest and most stalwart progressive voices in the Senate.

Please support Sen. Boxer by contributing to her re-election and attending the lunch -- 12:30-2:00 p.m.

We hope to see you there!
