MATERNAL NEGLECT?

j0439333.jpgIn Matter of Anthony C. v. Bernice C. , after the Bronx County Family Court found a mother guilty of "neglect" and placed her children in the custody of Social Services, an appeal to the Appellate Division, First Department, was filed.

Not only was the mom's apartment found to be "unsafe and unsanitary," but she wouldn't accept the agency's help in finding another home nor undergo treatment for a mental condition. (The AD1 also concluded the Family Court properly considered the mother's psychiatric reports, over her objection.)

The father didn't fare any better. Apparently, he failed to ensure the kids had "adequate shelter," benefits, or that the mother sought treatment.

Can you feel the love tonight?
