Here's a note we received from Congressman Eric Massa (NY 29) :
In the first 50 days since I joined this 111th Congress, I have acted quickly to help pass:
- The Lilly Ledbetter Act and the Pay Equality Act, which will require equal pay for equal work.
- The State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), which will cut the number of uninsured children in America by 66%.
- The Economic Stimulus Plan, which will give our flagging economy the boost it needs to get moving again.
When I went to Washington, it was with the promise that I would make the tough choices and put hard-working people first. While we all understand that there are no quick fixes to the serious economic challenges that we face, each day I go to work for my constituents and for my country. I will continue to fight to return our country to economic stability, create new jobs, make healthcare affordable for all, and protect our fighting men and women both on the battlefield and once they return home.
I am writing you now to ask you to save the evening of Tuesday, April 7th for cocktails and discussion at the home of Barry and Lizanne Rosenstein in New York City. That evening I will give you a personal briefing of how things have gone during these first 100 days. While it feels as if the election just ended, my seat has already been targeted as a top race for the Republicans in 2010.
With March 31 as our first fundraising quarter deadline, we need to be out in front of the Republicans to show that this is a seat we Democrats will not give up easily.Your early support for this event will send a strong message to the Republicans who are already looking for a challenger to my seat!
I need your help so that we can make the evening a success. Please join my host committee, "Friends of Eric" by giving us the names of friends you would like to invite to this special evening.
Please contact Jacqui Samuels at (917) 974-9373 or via email at JSamuelsRSVP@gmail.com , to pass along your guest list or to simply RSVP. An invitation will be sent out shortly and I look forward to seeing you on April 7 for what I hope will be a great evening.
For those of you who attended the event last month at the home of my dear friend Sally Minard, I thank you. It means so much to me and I look forward to your continued support as we work together to help find solutions to the serious challenges ahead of us.
All the best,
Congressman Eric J.J. Massa
