Dear Friend,
I'm writing to ask for your support for my husband, Councilman Eric Gioia. I first met Eric almost ten years ago when we were both working to elect Al Gore as President. Since then, Eric was elected himself, we got married, and started our family. Watching Eric over the past 8 years in the City Council, I am so proud of him and his dedication to solving problems and being the voice at City Hall for New Yorkers who need someone on their side. He is a great husband and father, and I know he'll be an outstanding Public Advocate.

Please join us for a Women's Breakfast on Tuesday, June 16th at 8:30am, hosted by Gail Britton and Karenna Gore Schiff in support of Eric's campaign for Public Advocate.
Eric has a proven record of getting things done in areas that matter to New York families. As an advocate for a better education for our kids he's made an impact by:
- Making sure teachers are reimbursed when they buy critical classroom supplies using money out of their own pockets.
- Securing millions in funding to get our schools wired and connected to the Internet so students are prepared to enter the 21st Century workplace.
- Creating safe, structured extracurricular programs so that children have a safe place to go after school where they can learn teamwork and leadership.
- Promoting breakfast in the classroom so that more kids start their day with a healthy, hearty meal and the energy they need to do their best.
Eric has also been a leader on important health issues:
- He wrote a law that helped make emergency contraception widely available in all areas of New York City - and followed up with investigations to make sure it was working.
- He has investigated excessively long wait times for mammograms.
- Eric has been at the forefront of the fight against child hunger, passing legislation to make food stamps more accessible, cutting down on bureaucracy, and getting retailers like Costco to accept food stamps .
- He's also combated child obesity, with innovative proposals like banning fast food restaurants within 0.1 miles of schools.
As Public Advocate, Eric will continue to listen and work towards real solutions for the problems New Yorkers face. I hope that you'll be able to join us for the breakfast on Tuesday, which is being held at a private home on the Upper East Side. The event is give what you can, but we are asking for a suggested donation of $175. For more information, or to RSVP, please call Sarah at 718.706.5743 or email sarah@eslergroup.com .
Sincerely yours,
