FREE
Come to Hudson River Park's Pier 96 in Clinton Cove on June 22 at 6pm for a free concert by The Mercantillers, a local band known for performing upbeat mix of traditional sea-chanteys, bluegrass, folk, and rock-n-roll. The band's slogan is "Salty Songs by Sultry Seamen," but, as The New York Times says, the group "throws in some land-bound music and plenty of humor that Monty Python would approve of." They're great musicians, with broad instrumentation that ranges from traditional guitars, banjo, mandolin and bass, to the not-so-traditional drum kit, trombone, tubular bells, melodica, churango, and the occasional theremin. The concert, lasting one hour, is the perfect way to end the work day.
