Residents Urged to Call 311 to Report Potholes along Brooklyn's 7,000 Miles of Paved Roads

On Thursday, June 25, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined NYC Department of Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan and City Council Member David Yassky to fill potholes on Bergen Street between Bond and Hoyt Streets. The DOT has repaired 290,000 potholes citywide in the last 12 months, including nearly 73,000 in Brooklyn. In the last week alone, more than 1,100 potholes in Brooklyn have been filled.

Brooklynites can also take pride in the fact that the asphalt mix used in Brooklyn is the "greenest" of all because it's produced at DOT's Hamilton Avenue plant and trucks don't have to travel very far to fill potholes in the borough--reducing truck emissions.

Residents are asked to call 311 to register a pothole complaint; the DOT says, on average, potholes are repaired three days after reported.
