On Thursday, July 23, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will greet participants in the Wounded Warrior Project's Soldier Ride as they conclude a 25-mile journey through Manhattan and Brooklyn. This year's route will take the riders from Herald Square, through Central Park, down the West Side Highway, to the South Street Seaport for lunch and then over to Brooklyn, where they'll be met by hundreds of spectators at a block party outside Villabate-Alba Pasticceria & Bakery in Bensonhurst.

The Soldier Ride, at its core, is a rehabilitative cycling event designed to challenge our wounded warriors to get back in the saddle, both literally and figuratively, and is a tool to help both the physical and mental wounds of war. These rides also help to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and its many important programs designed to serve our injured and their families, and in turn raise money through sponsorships, pledges and donations for WWP.
