* Spraying - Applying a liquid insecticide from trucks to kill adult mosquitoes. Can take place in residential or non-residential areas.
** Aerial Larviciding - Dropping natural bacterial granules by helicopter to marshes and other large natural areas to kill mosquito larvae before they grow into adult mosquitoes. Does not take place in the residential areas of NYC.
*** In the event of rain or high winds, all operations continue on the next possible evening, weather permitting.

To control mosquitoes, the Health Department will apply larvicide by helicopter to marsh and other non-residential areas of Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island next week. The spraying is scheduled for Monday, July 27, through Wednesday, July 29, between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. In case of bad weather, application will be delayed until the next day during the same hours. While three days are allotted for this activity, the application may be completed in less time.
