All proceeds from the Winter Benefit will support the
YRF Young Leadership Literacy Initiative
for children from Lod, one of YRF's most in-need project communities.

Illiteracy is a major obstacle facing Israeli society. Currently, the public education system is unable to provide the tools necessary to promote literacy and language skills for all students. Children from low-income homes are particularly vulnerable to this deficiency and do not receive the fundamental education they need to succeed and flourish.

The funds raised at the YLC Benefit will support the development of a new curriculum focused on literacy and writing, as well as provide intensive training for teachers at the Levi Eshkol Middle School in Lod. Studies have shown that if children are given a strong foundation in reading, writing, and language comprehension, their ability to achieve success in all subjects increases significantly. With the help of our committed young supporters in the United States, YRF hopes to make this possible for the students of Lod in 2009.
