The 2009 Hope Gala is the first annual black tie optional event hosted by the New York City and Northern New Jersey Chapters of the Penn State Alumni Association and The Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group. Created to support fundraising efforts on behalf of The Penn State Dance Marathon (THON) and The Four Diamonds Fund, The Hope Gala contributes to the mission of conquering childhood cancer. All proceeds benefit pediatric cancer patients at the Penn State Children's Hospital and their families in need of financial aid, medical assistance, and emotional support.

Frank Sinatra sings our theme the best but we, New Yorkers, are committed to achieving it. New York has been a prime location for Penn State alumni throughout the years and it's time for New Yorkers to come together for a great cause. It's Up To You New York!  The 2009 Hope Gala will be held at Capitale on Friday January 23, 2009.  The event begins at 7:00PM and is black tie optional. This elegant evening will include cocktails, dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions, speakers, Four Diamonds Families, and more.  Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at the rate of $150 per person through December 1 and $175 after.

About THON

The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, with all proceeds benefiting The Four Diamonds Fund, Conquering Childhood Cancer, at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. After a year-round fundraising effort by the students of all Penn State campuses, THON culminates in a 46 hour no-sitting, no-sleep Dance Marathon in the Bryce Jordan Center.

Over the past 36 years, the students of THON have raised over $50 million dollars and have helped thousands of children and families in their fight against pediatric cancer. Last year alone, THON raised more than $6.6 million dollars for the Four Diamond's Fund, supporting its mission to conquer childhood cancer. New York area alumni and friends will now have the opportunity to play a role in what has become one of Penn State 's greatest and most unifying traditions.
