BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON CONFIRMATION OF BROOKLYN NATIVE TIMOTHY GEITHNER AS TREASURY SECRETARY
"Brooklynites and New Yorkers couldn't be prouder today than to see one of our own, Timothy Geithner, a favorite son of Brooklyn, confirmed as U.S. Treasury Secretary. Brooklyn is in 'The House'--the White House--and Secretary Geithner's experience as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and service in the Treasury Department under three administrations will certainly serve him well as he confronts the world's economic crisis.
Secretary Geithner will need to draw on some of that 'Brooklyn attitude' to get us through these challenging financial times, and on behalf of nearly 2.6 million Brooklynites, I wish him well as he and President Obama work to get our nation and the global financial community back on the right economic track."
