In Coratti v. Wella Corporation , a hairdresser named John Coratti sued Wella Corporation -- maker of hair dyes -- after he was allegedly poisoned by chemicals purportedly contained in the company's products.
When the New York County Supreme Court dismissed his case, Coratti appealed to the Appellate Division, First Department.
The AD1 was of the view the scientific community hadn't embraced Coratti's theory that his illness was caused by daily, occupational, exposure to the chemicals contained in Wella 's hair dyes.
Tests were never performed to diagnose toxic agents present in Coratti's body and his experts failed to identify the specific chemicals and the quantities contained in the dyes and the chemical exposure necessary to cause harm.
Coratti must have dyed when he got that decision.
