Hi Lucas ,

With spring a few months away, the political cycle has begun. The Club will have the following activities and events. I expect to announce others when I set the dates.

1. 2009 MEMBERSHIP
Jim McManus and I recognize that these are hard economic times for everyone.  Even though there are set rates for membership, this year we will have an open membership in which you can contribute whatever amount you can. Please download the form at http://www.mcmanusdemocrats.com/html/membership_by_mail.html  or stop by the Club and see Lucille or Singh.  You will receive the membership renewal form in the mail this week.

2.  ST. PATRICK'S BREAKFAST
To make sure you receive your complimentary invitation, please renew your 2009 membership. Simply log onto http://www.mcmanusdemocrats.com/html/membership_by_mail.html and download the application. Remember, you must have your invitation in hand because security is tight and invitations will be collected at the door.

Date: Tuesday, March 17
Time:  7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Place is on the printed invitation. You will receive it by mail.

3. MANZANO "THANK YOU" EVENT
Since I just finished my Master in Communications at NYU, I thought this would be a great opportunity not only to celebrate but also to THANK those who helped us retire the 2005 campaign debt.

Date:  Monday, March 30
Time:  6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Place: Charley O's, 713 8th Avenue @ 45th Street
This is a FREE event with drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
R.S.V.P. is required at apple@nyct.net or 212-714-2468.

4.  McMANUS SPRING FUND-RAISER
Politics is a contact game. For those who will be running there will be shortcuts, ups, downs, and a finish line. We all hope that these valiant candidates take into account what's happening to people out there. New York continues to have brain drain from the middle class

and a money gain from the super rich.  Simply check the above link from Crain's or Google the "Center for an Urban Future."  Having said that, let the games begin!

Date:    Monday, May 11
Time:    6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Place:   Charley O's, 713 8th Avenue @ 45th Street
Special  Guest: To be announced
Tickets: $180 Golden Sponsor - $120 Regular - $25 Senior-Student-Disabled-Unemployed
We will have a special rate for members to make sure everyone can attend.

For these and other events log onto http://www.mcmanusdemocrats.com/html/events.php

Jim and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Carlos Manzano
