Here's the text of an e-mail we received from our friend, Heather Leifer, former President of the Lexington Democratic Club :
I've been involved in NYC politics for years but I found that the only people involved in politics were elected officials and people who wanted to become elected officials. After serving two terms as president of the Lexington Democratic Club (one of the largest democratic clubs in Manhattan), I decided to make a change. Late last year I decided I wanted to get involved with an established democratic political organization but one with a smaller following. The main reason behind this is to help new and prospective members become involved in politics while learning about city, state and federal government . It's something that really isn't very possible to do in a larger club setting. I am pleased to announce that I have been elected to the Executive Board of the Lenox Hill Democratic Club. So...for those of you wondering about your government and what it can do for you....now is your chance to learn.
The Lenox Hill Democratic Club is hosting a cocktail party on Thursday February 26th. This event will be a relaxed setting where you will be able to meet local elected officials as well as your neighbors. I hope you will be able to join us. Please RSVP to LHDCevents@ymail.com . Please feel free to ask any questions if you may have any.
All the best,
Heather
