About  Regina Calcaterra
Prosecuting Wall Street - Protecting Main Street
As a partner at Barrack, Rodos & Bacine, a premier corporate fraud law firm, Regina worked to secure the pensions of all government employees including, police, fire, teachers, correction and sanitation workers. She fought for labor union employees when they lost money due to corporate fraud.  Regina served as a member of the legal team that successfully litigated such high profile corporate fraud cases against WorldCom and Merrill Lynch and brought billions of dollars back to the pensions of union workers and government employees. Regina's experience in protecting pensions began in the 1990's when she co-authored and passed laws that led to strong investment returns in the state pension funds. She appears on CNBC advocating for stronger shareholder protections and on Fox News.

Saving Taxpayers Money & Protecting Workers
  • While attending Seton Hall Law School in the evenings, Regina served as Director of Legislative Affairs/Intergovernmental Relations for the NYC Comptroller.  In just a few years, she co-authored and passed ten laws that impacted government and union employees and all New York taxpayers.
  • She co-authored and passed creative investment laws that increased the funding of the pension funds and treasury funds for government employees, while decreasing taxpayer contributions.
  • She co-authored and passed laws that substantially strengthened the enforcement of labor laws to ensure that workers were all paid prevailing wages, and that employer violators were penalized.
  • She co-authored and passed one of the first state technology laws allowing local and state governments to scan all documents rather than warehousing them, saving New Yorkers millions of dollars in storage costs.

Advocating for Veterans and all Americans with Disabilities
  • Regina was at the forefront of the fight for veterans with disabilities and all Americans with disabilities.
  • She lobbied Congress to ensure that they passed a law that allowed all eligible Americans with disabilities the right to work, to accessible transportation and the right to mainstream into American society.
  • Then after the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Rights Act of 1990, she dedicated several more years to ensure that the law was complied with by the LIRR, NJ Transit and other entities.
  • She served as a member of the Suffolk County Disability Rights Task Force and Nassau County Task Force for the Disabled.

Growing Up & Living in Suffolk County
Regina spent her youth in and out of the Suffolk County foster care system with her four siblings. When not in foster care Regina and her siblings experienced evictions, homelessness and homeless shelters. Regina lives in New Suffolk where she is a member of the New Suffolk Civic Association, the North Fork Italian American Association and several other local organizations.
