Cooling Centers Will Open Monday in All Five Boroughs
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in New York City from Monday, August 17th, until 7 PM Tuesday, August 18th. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s until at least Tuesday afternoon. The City has opened cooling centers to help New Yorkers escape from the extreme heat. The Health Department reminds New Yorkers that seniors and those with chronic health problems are at increased risk of heat illness. Air conditioning is the best protection.
