Jumaane D. Williams is a first-generation Brooklynite of Grenadian parentage. Until recently he has been the Executive Director of NYS Tenants & Neighbors, a state-wide organization that fights for tenants' rights and affordable housing through organizing and advocacy. Jumaane is currently overseeing a for-profit venture aimed at increasing community health, awareness and interest in his native Brooklyn.
Jumaane's candidacy has been endorsed by Assemblyman Jim Brennan, the Working Families Party, SEIU Local 32BJ, UAW Region 9A, ACORN PAC, and the New York Hotel Trades Council (HTC).
