These poll numbers were released earlier today by Rasmussen Reports -- "an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information."
54% Fear Government Will Do Too Much To Fix Economy

Fifty-four percent (54%) of U.S. voters worry more that the federal government will try to do too much to fix the economy rather than not enough. That's up three points from a month ago and the highest level of concern found on this question since Barack Obama was elected president.A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 37% are more worried that the federal government will not do enough in reacting to the nation's current economic problems. That's little changed from last month and down from a high of 44% in January .

Among the nation's Political Class, (70%) worry that the government will not do enough. As for those who hold populist or Mainstream views, an identical percentage (70%) fear the government will do too much. (See more on the Political Class/Mainstream divide ).
Men by a 62% to 33% margin worry that the government will do too much. Forty-eight percent (48%) of women agree but 39% worry that not enough will be done. Sixty percent (61%) of African-Americans fear the government will not try to do enough to help the economy, while 61% of whites have the opposite concern.
Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans and 66% of voters not affiliated with either major party worry the government will take too much action, but 60% of Democrats worry it won't do enough.
Most voters (53%) believe increases in government spending hurt the economy
and there is strong opposition to a second economic stimulus package .
Fifty-five percent (55%) of voters blame President George W. Bush for the bad economy , but 39% say Obama's policies are at fault.
Eighty percent (80%) of Americans say current economic conditions in the country are at least somewhat likely to lead to increased crime .
Most voters believe it would be better to do nothing than to pass the health care reform legislation currently working its way through Congress.
Seventy-six percent (76%) say it is at least somewhat likely taxes will have to be raised on the middle class to cover the cost of the health care reform plan, but 54% think middle class tax cuts are more important than new spending on health care .
Only six percent (6%) of voters nationwide now expect their own taxes to go down during the Obama years . During Election 2008, then-candidate Obama promised to cut taxes for 95% of Americans.
