With one week to go until the federal income
Of that group, two-thirds (67%) - or roughly 20% of Americans - say they will file by April 15. Roughly 4% of all Americans say they plan to get an extension while the rest aren't sure.
Sixty-five percent (65%) of adults say they already have filed their taxes.
Two weeks ago , 56% said they had already filed. The pace was slightly slower than a year ago. Fifty-seven percent (57%) plan to file electronically this year.
Men are more behind on their taxes than women. Thirty-six percent (36%) of men have yet to file, compared to 26% of women. But among those last-minute filers, men (73%) are more likely to say they will file by April 15 than women (60%), with an equal number of both planning to seek extensions. Women are more than twice as likely as men to be unsure at this point if they will make the deadline or seek an extension.

Nearly seven-out-of-10 of both government employees and those who work in the private sector already have filed their income
More married Americans (69%) have already filed than those who are unmarried (58%), but among those who have yet to file, marrieds also are more inclined to seek an extension.
In a survey last month, 19% of Americans were concerned about their taxes being audited by the Internal Revenue Service . That number is largely unchanged from findings last April .
Nearly half (47%) of Americans expect a tax refund this year. Of that group, however, 34% of them are at least somewhat concerned the government won't have enough cash left to write a refund check after all the new government spending that has been announced.
