New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. today issued the following statement at a press conference on the steps of City Hall to announce the filing of a federal term limits lawsuit:
"Today's court action is necessary to correct an injustice," Comptroller Thompson said. "We are stepping forward on behalf of those New Yorkers who were denied a voice when self-interest prevailed over the public good. Today's action aims to restore democracy to this process."
