Now in its 16th year, our Journalism Conference is recognized as the premier event of its kind in metro New York. The purpose is to provide a forum for journalists and students of journalism to critically explore developments and trends in news gathering and reporting and to assess and debate journalism's current "state of the art".

This year's theme: "The Reality of News."
The conference will explore the state of the industry as it contends with a 24-hour news cycle, technological revolution and potentially crushing economic challenges.

Keynote Speaker: Edward Felsenthal

Edward Felsenthal
Executive Editor, TheDailyBeast.com

Tina Brown's new Web site, TheDailyBeast.com , instantly established itself on the journalism scene this year when just days after its launch early in October, it published Christopher Buckley's endorsement of Barack Obama, which led to Buckley's departure from his father's magazine, The National Review.

We will get an inside look at Brown's latest buzz machine from Executive Editor, Edward Felsenthal.

This veteran journalist, a longtime editor at The Wall Street Journal, will discuss what role Web sites like this aim to play in the new journalism landscape and how they might shake up "mainstream media" in the process.
