New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson, Jr. will hold a Disability Awareness event on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.  The event is co-sponsored by the Disabilities Network of New York City, YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities and Special Citizen Futures Unlimited, Inc.

 

The honorees will be: Elisa Fruscianti, Gold Medal Winner in the 100-meter walk at the Special Olympics 2007; Thomas Samuels, Former Director and Media Specialist at LaGuardia Community College and Past President of National Black Deaf Advocates; William M. Richards, Author & 2007 Vanguard Guard Award Finalist; Terence J. Moakley, Vice Chairman of the Board of the United Spinal Association; and Nellie Velez, Parent Advocate at John F. Kennedy Junior Institute for the CUNY Youth Transition Demonstration Project.  Thompson will present the Organizational Service Award to Hank Carter, Chairman of Wheelchair Charities, Inc.
